
The Auburn Tigers recently completed one of the best seasons in their history, ending with a loss in the Final Four. They set a program record with 32 wins, defeating teams like Alabama State, Creighton, Michigan, and Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament. However, their season ended with a 79-73 defeat to Florida in the Final Four, finishing with a 32-6 record. Following this historic campaign, freshman Tahaad Pettiford discussed his potential return to the Tigers. After one of the best freshman seasons in the nation, Pettiford shared his hopes to return next season, saying, “I hope to come back next year and run it back again.” In Auburn’s Final Four loss to Florida, Pettiford recorded seven points, three rebounds, and four assists. Throughout the season, he averaged 11.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, solidifying his place as one of the top guards in the SEC. Pettiford had originally committed to Auburn under coach Bruce Pearl as the No. 2 point guard and No. 29 overall player in the country, according to 247Sports. He was highly sought after in the 2024 class, with programs like Kentucky and Kansas showing significant interest.
