Ohio State Lands Commitment from Four-Star Offensive Lineman Sam Greer
Columbus, OH – The Ohio State Buckeyes have secured a key piece for their future offensive line, as four-star offensive tackle Sam Greer announced his commitment to the program on Monday. The Archbishop Hoban (Akron, Ohio) standout chose the Buckeyes over several top programs, citing trust, development, and a strong personal connection as the main reasons behind his decision.
Greer, a 6-foot-7, 295-pound lineman, received his first Division I scholarship offer from Ohio State in April 2023, long before he had played a varsity snap. That early belief in his potential left a lasting impression.
“They saw what I could do before anyone else did,” Greer said. “That kind of trust means a lot to me, and it’s one of the biggest reasons I chose Ohio State.”
Beyond early recognition, Greer pointed to the Buckeyes’ coaching staff and their track record of developing NFL-caliber talent. Head coach Ryan Day and offensive line coach Tyler Bowen made a strong impression throughout the recruiting process, emphasizing the program’s winning culture and competitive drive.
“What stood out to me was the plan and goal everyone in that building had,” Greer added. “They’re always competing for everything, and that’s the kind of environment I want to be part of.”
Ohio State has a long history of sending offensive linemen to the NFL, and Greer took notice. With multiple linemen projected to be drafted this year, he sees Columbus as the perfect place to develop his game and chase his professional dreams.
“I know I’ll be pushed to my limits, and that’s what I want,” he said. “Ohio State is the best place to prepare for the next level.”
Greer’s commitment adds to an already strong 2025 recruiting class for the Buckeyes. He joins a growing list of top prospects who are eager to contribute to the program’s tradition of excellence.
As an Ohio native, the decision also had a personal element. “I’ve always been a Buckeye at heart,” Greer admitted. “Now, I get to make that dream a reality.”
Greer is expected to play a crucial role in bolstering Ohio State’s offensive line depth in the coming years, and his commitment further solidifies the Buckeyes as a dominant force in college football recruiting.
