The past few weeks have been eventful for Dabo Swinney and Clemson football.
With spring practices underway, Swinney has secured top-tier recruits, propelling Clemson to No. 2 in the 2026 national team rankings.
Swinney isn’t stopping anytime soon.
While he’s shown more openness to using the transfer portal, especially ahead of the 2025 season, his primary focus remains on high school recruiting. He’s already made significant strides in the 2026 class and is working hard to bring in more of the nation’s top players to visit and commit to Clemson.
On Sunday, Swinney extended an offer to Khary Adams, a top-30 cornerback from Maryland, and also to four-star running back Jae Lamar from Moultrie, Georgia, who is currently leaning toward Georgia.
Clemson made the offer to Lamar while he was on campus, and while he’s still heavily inclined to commit to Georgia, the Tigers appear to be making a move. Getting him to visit was a big step, and seeing Clemson firsthand only boosts their chances.
Lamar has over 30 offers and is being courted by schools like Georgia, Florida State, Miami, and Auburn. However, after Clemson’s offer, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Tigers climb higher in his recruitment.
Standing 6’0″ and weighing 205 pounds, Lamar is ranked the No. 94 overall recruit and the No. 7 running back in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
If Swinney can out-recruit Georgia for Lamar, it would be a huge win for Clemson.
