Florida State will need to explore additional options for its offensive line.
Over the past few months, the Seminoles have broadened their recruiting efforts for offensive linemen. However, they won’t secure every prospect they pursue.
On Monday night, four-star offensive tackle Ben Congdon committed to Miami, choosing the Hurricanes over offers from Florida State, Penn State, and Florida, among others. His decision came while he was on an unofficial visit to Miami.
Florida State entered the race for Congdon later in the process, extending him a scholarship in December. The 6-foot-7 lineman visited Tallahassee in January for a junior day, where he met with offensive line coach Herb Hand. However, Miami intensified its efforts and successfully secured his commitment.
It remains uncertain whether Congdon, an Ohio native, will consider visits to other schools. Florida State will likely keep an eye on him as the program continues searching for offensive tackle options.
Ranked No. 316 nationally, the No. 29 offensive tackle, and the No. 15 player in Ohio for the 2026 class by 247Sports, Congdon adds to a competitive recruiting landscape.
Florida State currently has seven verbal commitments for 2026, with its class ranked No. 12 nationally. The Seminoles have already secured three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne and remain in contention for several other linemen.
