PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns are pushing forward after a trade deadline full of drama, where Kevin Durant’s name was almost traded in the final hours. While Durant ultimately stayed, the speculation around his future in Phoenix only adds to the noise surrounding a team that has yet to meet expectations on the court.
Suns GM James Jones addressed the situation, noting Durant’s transparency and commitment to winning: “Kevin is unique in the sense that he tells you exactly how he feels… He’s been great and wants to win, just like we do.”
Jones acknowledged the ongoing chatter, pointing out that when a team isn’t winning, the rumors will keep swirling. The solution? “Win games, stack wins, and we’ll achieve our goals.”
At 26-29 on the season, the Suns need to turn things around fast to avoid missing the playoffs.
Kevin Durant Addresses Suns-Warriors Trade Rumors
PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns have been the center of attention in recent weeks, for all the right and wrong reasons. At the heart of it all is superstar Kevin Durant, who recently became just the 8th player in NBA history to score 30,000 points.
When asked by ESPN’s Malika Andrews about offseason trade rumors, including reports that the Suns front office had shopped him behind his back, Durant gave a direct response: “You gotta ask the front office about that… I didn’t ask for a trade from Phoenix.”
He also dismissed the notion that he turned down a potential trade to the Golden State Warriors, saying, “That’s not the reason why I didn’t want to come back, I just didn’t want to get traded midway through the season.”
These comments hint that Durant may not be entirely happy with the situation, despite his desire to retire as a Sun. With the franchise unable to move Bradley Beal, it severely limited their options to improve, leaving Durant as the logical trade piece, while Devin Booker remains untouchable.
The most intriguing part of the discussion came when Durant didn’t completely dismiss the idea of returning to the Warriors, raising the question of whether that could be a real possibility in the offseason.
For now, Durant and the Suns will focus on finishing the final 28 games of the regular season, with hopes that any issues can be resolved come summer.
Suns Star Kevin Durant Doesn’t Rule Out EuroLeague Stop
PHOENIX – Ahead of the All-Star Game this past weekend, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant was asked about the possibility of playing in the EuroLeague in the future.
“I don’t know man, I doubt it right now,” the 36-year-old Durant responded (via Mundo Deportivo’s Toni Canyameras). “I play in the NBA, but I love watching the EuroLeague too.”
Back in 2019, Durant mentioned he’d like to spend his final year playing for FC Barcelona. Now, he still sees Barcelona as an appealing option, adding, “Monaco would be nice too. For now, I love Phoenix. I’ll stay there for now.”
Durant, who has an impressive record with FIBA, including four Olympic gold medals and being the U.S.’s all-time leading scorer, is still performing at an elite level in the NBA. His future with the Suns is uncertain, especially after reports that he was caught off guard when his name was included in trade talks before the deadline.
Durant has one year left on his current contract and could be up for an extension this offseason. While his potential move to the EuroLeague would be intriguing, especially given his consistent top-tier performance, Durant remains thankful for all basketball has given him and appreciates his decorated international career.
For now, Durant and the Suns return to action tonight after the All-Star break for a special game against the San Antonio Spurs at Durant’s alma mater, the University of Texas Austin.
