Suns’ Championship Hopes Get a Major Boost with Tyus Jones…

Signing with a contender like the Suns was a chance for Tyus Jones to test free agency again next summer, but it also presented an opportunity to play a crucial role in a team’s championship aspirations. Bartelstein, the Suns’ CEO, initially thought the chances of landing Jones were slim, but after discussing the idea with Jones’ agent, Kevin Bradbury, the possibility became more realistic.

Bartelstein then got Ishbia, the Suns’ owner, on the phone with Jones and his wife, Carrie, to discuss the opportunity. The couple met with the Suns’ front office, including president of basketball operations James Jones, to get a better sense of the team’s vision and how Jones would fit in. Jones also sat down with coach Mike Budenholzer to discuss his role and how the team would play with him as the floor general.

Jones’ decision to sign with the Suns was not just about him; it was also about his family. His wife, Carrie, was involved in the discussions, and the couple considered factors like the team’s culture, the city of Phoenix, and how the organization would support their family. The Suns’ willingness to include Carrie in the discussions and understand the importance of family in Jones’ decision-making process made a significant impression on the couple.

Bradley Beal, the Suns’ star shooting guard, is thrilled to have Jones on board. Beal believes that Jones’ presence will make his life easier on the court, allowing him to focus on scoring and playing to his strengths. In the Suns’ first four games, Jones has averaged 10 points, 6 assists, and less than one turnover per game, making a significant impact on the team’s offense.

With Jones running the point, Beal and Devin Booker have been able to focus on scoring and playing off the ball. Beal is dribbling 30% less before attempting a shot, and he’s shooting 42.1% from 3, nearly a career high. Booker is also benefiting from Jones’ presence, dribbling 51% less before taking a shot and shooting 41.9% from deep, by far the best mark of his career.

Jones’ ability to set up his teammates and make their jobs easier has been a game-changer for the Suns. He’s a true point guard who understands how to run an offense and make his teammates better. Beal and Booker are thriving with Jones on the court, and the Suns are looking like a legitimate contender in the Western Conference.

The addition of Jones has given the Suns a new dynamic, one that could potentially lead to a championship. With Jones running the point, Beal and Booker can focus on scoring and playing to their strengths. The Suns’ offense is humming, and the team is looking like a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
