In 2025, five Titans players and coaches will not be returning.

The Tennessee Titans endured their most humiliating loss of a season filled with them on Sunday, falling 10-6 at home to a Jacksonville Jaguars team led by Mac Jones. With a 3-10 record, the Titans are a team adrift, having little left to fight for in the remainder of the 2024 season. The focus for the remaining games will be on evaluating the roster and figuring out ways to improve, especially with the Ran Carthon and Brian Callahan tandem, assuming they return in 2025, facing a crucial offseason.

As they look toward tough decisions ahead, here are five high-profile players and coaches who should not return to the Titans in 2025:

  1. Colt Anderson, Special Teams Coordinator
It’s hard to ignore the glaring issue of the Titans’ historically bad special teams, a problem that falls squarely on the shoulders of first-year coordinator Colt Anderson. There have been roster decisions that have added to the struggles, such as the release of Hassan Haskins, but Anderson has been unable to resolve any issue without another emerging.

The struggles began in the first two weeks, when punter Ryan Stonehouse had punts blocked in back-to-back games. In Week 8 against Detroit, the Lions returned a kickoff for 72 yards and had two long punt returns, including one for a touchdown in a crushing 52-14 loss. The Titans have allowed a league-worst 604 punt return yards, almost 200 more than the second-worst team (Cleveland Browns, 428), according to ESPN.

In recent weeks, the Titans have shuffled the roster in search of solutions, even signing 2022 special teams Pro Bowler Justin Hardee, who committed a special teams penalty in his first game. Despite these moves, Anderson’s unit has shown little improvement, and while Brian Callahan has stressed that it’s a collective issue, it’s hard to see Anderson returning without sending the wrong message about accountability.
