“Faith, Trust, Relationship, Integrity, Commitment.” These five words encapsulate the journey and values of Michael Fasusi, a highly sought-after football recruit who officially signed with the Oklahoma Sooners. Fasusi shared this mantra on his X account after committing, signaling the importance of these principles in his life and career.
Fasusi, a consensus five-star recruit across all major scouting services, has established himself as one of the nation’s elite prospects. Ranked ninth overall by ESPN, he’s widely regarded as a cornerstone talent for Oklahoma’s 2025 recruiting class. His journey to prominence, however, is as remarkable as his talent on the field.
Originally from Nigeria, Fasusi relocated to North Texas in 2019. Adjusting to a new country, culture, and way of life, he didn’t just adapt—he thrived. At Lewisville High School, he emerged as a dominant offensive tackle for the Fighting Farmers, earning national recognition for his size, strength, and athleticism. His contributions on the field earned him spots in prestigious events like the 2025 Under Armour All-American Bowl and the 2025 Polynesian Bowl, showcasing his skills on some of the biggest stages for high school football players.
Reflecting on his journey, Fasusi shared inspiring words when he committed to Oklahoma in August. “Don’t stop dreaming. I’ve had my dreams, and I’m still living them and chasing them. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or who you are—you can be great,” he said. His message resonated not only with his teammates but also with aspiring young athletes who see him as proof that hard work and determination can overcome any obstacle.
Fasusi’s decision to join the Sooners was not just about his football aspirations. The program’s focus on relationships and personal growth played a crucial role in his commitment. Head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma staff have built a reputation for nurturing talent while emphasizing integrity and commitment, values that align perfectly with Fasusi’s character and goals.
In a bonus for the Sooners, Fasusi’s high school teammate, Sean Hutton, also pledged to join the team. Hutton’s commitment underscores Lewisville High School’s recent pipeline of talent to Oklahoma. Venables acknowledged this connection, stating, “Lewisville has been a good place for the Sooners over the years.”
As Fasusi prepares for the next chapter in his football career, he carries with him a sense of purpose and a drive to continue excelling both on and off the field. His journey from Nigeria to North Texas, and now to Norman, Oklahoma, serves as a powerful reminder of what is possible when faith, hard work, and opportunity come together.
