Phoenix Suns Considering Reacquiring Former Draft Pick Toumani Camara
Phoenix, AZ – Toumani Camara, originally drafted by the Phoenix Suns, has been thriving since his trade to the Portland Trail Blazers. This deal, part of a larger trade involving Deandre Ayton for players like Jusuf Nurkic and Grayson Allen, initially sent Camara away despite his promising Summer League performance. Now, his continued development in Portland has caught the Suns’ attention once again.
According to Bleacher Report, a potential reunion could be in the cards, listing Camara as a “realistic” trade target for Phoenix. Grant Hughes suggested that reacquiring the high-energy forward could be a smart move to bolster the Suns’ versatile defense alongside players like Ryan Dunn.
“Camara is a key starter for Portland,” Hughes explained. “While it wouldn’t be easy to acquire him, Phoenix should be motivated not only by his growth as a player but also by his affordable four-year, $7.6 million contract that fits into their tight payroll.”
Camara’s value has only grown since Portland insisted on including him in the original trade. With the Trail Blazers building around young stars like Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, the Suns might face a challenge convincing Portland to part ways with the emerging talent.
Adding Camara could bring a youthful spark to the Suns’ veteran-heavy lineup, complementing their defense and future aspirations. Whether a deal materializes remains to be seen.
