Saints Fire Head Coach Dennis Allen Following 2-7 Start and Loss to Panthers

The New Orleans Saints recently dismissed head coach  after a tough season start, including a 23-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Allen, who stepped into the role in 2022 following Sean Payton’s departure, had previously served as the Saints’ defensive coordinator for seven seasons. During his tenure as head coach, he compiled an 18-25 record.

Saints owner Gayle Benson acknowledged Allen’s commitment and contributions, noting his long-standing loyalty and professionalism. However, with a 2-7 start to the season, the organization decided to make a change, appointing special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi as the interim head coach
