Carlos Rodón couldn’t help but feel like a “fan boy” as his teammates powered the New York Yankees to a 10-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics. Aaron Judge hit his league-leading 54th homer, Giancarlo Stanton added a three-run shot, and Anthony Volpe also went deep.
Rodón (16-9) pitched six solid innings, allowing five hits and striking out four. The win marked Aaron Boone’s 600th managerial victory and kept the Yankees five games ahead of Baltimore in the AL East with seven games remaining.
Despite the win, Stanton emphasized the need to keep pushing: “The number’s three now so we’ve still got work to do.” Meanwhile, the A’s faced their fourth straight loss at home, with plans for a postgame drone and fireworks show during their final homestand before relocating. The Yankees improved to 44-4 when Judge and Stanton both homer in the same game.
