Jodie Meeks, a former standout for the Kentucky Wildcats, is set to be inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend, marking a significant milestone in his career. Reflecting on his time at Kentucky, Meeks described the experience as “humbling,” especially as he looks back on his remarkable 2008-2009 season, during which he became a fan favorite.
One of the highlights of his career was the unforgettable “Tennessee game” on January 13, 2009, where he scored a school-record 54 points, leading UK to a 90-72 victory. This performance solidified his place in Kentucky basketball history and brought him national recognition.
After a successful NBA career, including a championship with the Toronto Raptors, Meeks has transitioned into coaching. He recently joined the New Orleans Pelicans as an assistant coach, where he hopes to leverage his extensive experience to help young players.
Excited about his return to Lexington, Meeks will be accompanied by his wife and twin daughters, marking their first visit to his college home. This weekend promises to be a special reunion, celebrating both his legacy and the impact he’s had on the game.
