Trent Mierl of the University of Missouri men’s golf team has earned the title of SEC Freshman of the Week following an outstanding performance in his collegiate debut. Competing at the Golfweek “Put Me In Coach” Invitational, Mierl finished third overall with an even-par score of 210. His impressive tournament included a final round of 67, which was the best score recorded by any golfer that day. Throughout the event, Mierl demonstrated his skills by tallying 12 birdies, including an impressive stretch of four consecutive birdies on the back nine, allowing him to rise seven spots in the rankings.
This recognition is particularly noteworthy as Mierl becomes the first freshman from Mizzou to receive this accolade since Alfons Bondesson achieved it during the 2022-23 season. The Tigers are set to continue their season on September 30 at the Blessing Collegiate Invitational, providing Mierl and the team an opportunity to build on their early success in the collegiate golf circuit.
