Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will decide at the last moment whether Manuel Ugarte will make his debut in Saturday’s Premier League match against Southampton. Ugarte, signed for £51 million from Paris Saint-Germain, wasn’t registered in time for the previous game against Liverpool. Despite feeling unwell, he played 90 minutes for Uruguay and is now fit for selection.
Rasmus Hojlund (hamstring) and Luke Shaw (calf) remain injured, while Leny Yoro (foot), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Victor Lindelof (toe), and Mason Mount (muscle) are also sidelined. Bruno Fernandes, who had a minor knock, is expected to start as captain.
Ugarte may replace Casemiro, who had a poor performance against Liverpool. The defense might include Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Diogo Dalot, though Ten Hag might consider bringing in Harry Maguire. Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Marcus Rashford will vie for wing positions, with Joshua Zirkzee likely leading the attack in Hojlund’s absence.
