Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley have faced numerous challenges during their time with the New York Giants. However, with Barkley now joining the Philadelphia Eagles, Jones will need to carry the weight of Brian Daboll’s offense on his own. The season did not start well for the Giants, as they suffered a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Despite the change, Barkley continues to support his former teammate.
Since 2019, Jones and Barkley formed a strong offensive partnership, creating a unique chemistry. Losing Barkley means Jones must adjust to a new dynamic. Nevertheless, Barkley reached out to Jones after their disappointing 28-6 defeat to the Vikings.
“I spent six years there and have many friends on that team. I hold no ill will and hope they bounce back and find their rhythm. I spoke to him, and as a good friend, I encouraged him to play freely,” Barkley told Tim McManus of ESPN.
In the Giants’ season opener, Jones had a particularly tough game. He was sacked five times by the Vikings, and even when he managed to escape the defensive line, the secondary coverage limited his options. This led to two interceptions, contributing significantly to the Giants’ loss in Week 1.
