Not everything about the New York Jets’ 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night was bleak. Despite the defense allowing over 400 yards and eight consecutive scoring drives, and the offense struggling with turnovers, there were some notable positives. Aaron Rodgers, in his first start since his Achilles injury in 2023, completed 61% of his passes, throwing for 167 yards and a touchdown. While he did have a turnover, finishing the game was a significant achievement for both him and the Jets. Additionally, the offensive line showed improvement, particularly in pass protection.
Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett praised the line’s performance, stating, “They protected really well. Aaron didn’t get hit much, and he had some time in the pocket.” He did acknowledge that the run game needed adjustments, but expressed confidence that these issues would be addressed.
Though Hackett faced criticism for some of his play-calling and personnel decisions, there are still reasons to be optimistic about the team’s future.
