Alabama’s first two weeks of the season have provided big highlights, as well as early injuries that have given the Tide a noticeable negative side effect to what their full potential could be. Before the Tide kicked off their season opener against Western Kentucky, star offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor injured his shoulder during pregame warmups. The injury is not considered serious, as Proctor is on a week-to-week basis for returning to the field. Still, Elijah Pritchett has stepped up and provided quality play in light of Proctor’s injury.
In Week 2, Pritchett would not see the field until the fourth quarter, as he was also dealing with an injury. Alabama’s offensive line struggled throughout the first three quarters, committing numerous penalties and allowing many quarterback pressures from USF’s blitzing defense. Then Pritchett entered the game and the Tide would score 28 fourth quarter points to surge to a 42-16 win against USF. In an interview with The Next Round, lineman Tyler Booker discussed the flexibility of the offensive line and himself, as he played multiple positions in their win against the Bulls on Saturday. “I’m a ballplayer, man,” Booker said. “You could put me guard, tackle, center, tight end, receiver. Wherever you need me, I’m gonna play ball and I’m gonna do it to the best of my ability.” Alabama will need to clean up some things within the offensive line before their game at Wisconsin this week, as their schedule begins to increase in strength with quality opponents.
