BREAKING NEWS:White Sox lose their eighth consecutive game to the Mets.

On Friday night, J.D. Martinez launched a two-run home run, Tylor Megill, making his minor league comeback, pitched brilliantly into the sixth inning, and the New York Mets defeated the struggling Chicago White Sox 5-1.

The Mets won for the second straight game a

 

nd their eighth in eleven as Jesse Winker had three hits, including an RBI double. They were three games behind Atlanta for the last NL wild-card place. New York tied its season high of seven games above.500 at 71-64.

Martinez, who has an 8 for his past 20, did not go so far as to suggest that he had heated up at the plate. Furthermore, the 14-year veteran could care less about the standings.

For me, it simply involves going out there and introducing myself to these guys.
